Nikolaos Plakidas was born in Katochi village close to Messolonghi in 1965.

A beautiful village built on the banks of Achelous River, the village where Kyra Vassiliki, famous mistress of Ali Pasha lived the last years of her life. Near ancient Oeniade, an important center in antiquity where ruins of the port, the baths, the theatre, and the fortified city with 7 km of walls are still preserved.

Nikos showed his love for the folk tradition of his homeland ever since he was a child. He began to collect authentic costumes and study the way they were made and record the old stitches.

So, he slowly began to set up his workshop. However, the quality of his work and the respect for tradition quickly made him well known. His fame spread not only in Greece but also in all parts of the world and that is why he has exhibited in 18 countries, wherever there is a strong Greek element and philhellenism.

He collaborates with folklore museums, collectors, folklorists, the "Dora Stratou" Theatre and Lyceum Clubs of Greek Women. Today, apart from the workplace, he has created a beautiful exhibition space and a dressing room with costumes from all over Greece. His activity is not only limited to the manufacture of costumes but also to shoe jewelry and everything else that complements the costume. The work is always done with traditional techniques and everything that is made by Nikos is an accurate copy.
