The Regional Governor of Western Greece, Mr. Nektarios Farmakis, and the Deputy Regional Governor of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Nikolaos Korovesis, invite you to the opening of the art exhibition of Nikos Doumas entitled "Gennesis" that will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 19:00 at the Chrysogelos Building in Messolonghi Sacred City.

Nikos Doumas, descending from Galatas, only 16Km away from Messolonghi, is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.  After exploring a range of techniques, such as oil painting and sculpture, he developed his characteristic style mainly in oil paintings, but also in a multitude of materials, which focuses on the abstract human nature-figure and its representations through multiple compositions with intricate details and a linear use of painting space, while being rendered by living models. He has also exhibited his works internationally while his artistic creations are in many private collections in Greece and abroad. He has participated in the World Congress of Visual Art in Russia and Ayvalik, Turkey, as well as in the Patras Festival with the presentation of the works of 120 visual artists from around the world. His artistic "voice" ranges from figurative realism to the most complex and abstract painting for which he is known today.

The art exhibition is curated by Nikos Doumas’ Artistic Support Group and in particular Sofia Konstantinou, Amateur Painter and Ioulia Fragouli, Decorator-Art Teacher of Artistic Studies and the organization of works by Jenny Tsiantopoulou. In the general care are the Visual Artists and Curators of Art of the Chrysogelos Building, Agesilaus and Giannis Rompolas. During the exhibition, educational, experiential workshops will be held by Maria Karatzogianni and Apostolia Pastra as animators, which will be implemented on schedule at the contact numbers 2631022081-22666.

The Department of Culture promotes visual art with continuous presentations of works. This exhibition, which captures the special look of an artist with origins from the wider region, is another statement one the one hand of the intention of the Department of Culture to promote local creators, and on the other, the possibility of the unique natural environment to stand as the beginning of the inspiration of any artistic creation.

The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday to Thursday 11:00 to 1:30 p.m., Friday 11:00-1:30 p.m. & 6:30-8:30 p.m., Saturday 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:00-1:30 p.m. Admission will be free.
