"Messolonghi by Locals" is a non-profit organization that started as an initiative in 2018 under the "START: Create Cultural Change" program. The purpose of the organization is the strengthening of collectivity in the local community of Messolonghi through the participatory mapping of the city in the form of cultural routes and through the creation and promotion of cultural activities.

The activities of the organization concern the study, promotion and preservation of the local cultural heritage and the environmental wealth and also the creation of programs of alternative cultural tourism and ecotourism.

The idea was started by young people who decided to stay in the provincial city of Messolonghi and act in it, in a period where the social and economic crisis has increased the number of young people who leave and has created a climate of introversion and inactivity in the local community.
