3rd Cultural Industry Workshop (Crteative@Hubs)

The 3rd workshop of the cultural industry that was carried out in the framework of the “Creative @ Hubs” program was successfully held on Monday, September 6, at 20:00 p.m. with the central theme of the art of astrophotography through astronomical observation. The 3rd workshop entitled "Art in the light of the stars", took place in the courtyard of Agios Nikolaos in Tourlida (Messolonghi) with the appropriate logistical equipment. The workshop was opened by the Hub Manager of the program, Mr. Vassilios Artikos, who welcomed the participants, while prefacing the topic that will follow. Then, he introduced the two speakers to the public, Mr. Konstantinos Bakolitsas (Vice President of the Astronomical and Astrophysical Society of Western Greece) and Mr. George Dekas (astrophotographer / secretary of the Astronomical and Astrophysical Society of Western Greece). The first speaker (Konstantinos Bakolitsas) introduced us to astronomical observation and how it is transformed into art. Focus on deep sky photography which involves placing and photographing objects beyond our solar system which is particularly time consuming and complex as it requires thorough editing by the amateur photographer. He also referred to the various astronomical objects that make up the Universe (nebulae, star clusters, galaxies) as well as to the names given to them according to their characteristics. An integral part of the study and observation of all this is the use of the telescope and special instruments for the fascinating journey of exploration of the amateur photographer. Astronomical observation and astrophotography are the result of the continuous cooperation of Astro photographers with the help of scientists specialized in the field (astronomers) to give the best possible result. At the end of the first speech, the speech was given by the 2nd speaker (Georgios Dekas) who focused on landscape photography, which in recent years has been his hobby, offering him at the same time many distinctions. First, he presented his remarkable collection of photographs which include night shots, focusing on the original beauty offered by nature and the magical night under the light of the stars. He also analyzed the factors that facilitate or prevent the best photography (e.g., light pollution, etc.) Finally, he explained that the image of the stars that we see now observing the sky, goes back to the past because there is a distance that is measured by light years. At the end of the speeches, followed a telescope demonstration and the attendees took the opportunity to use it to observe how the various objects are reflected in the vast universe, and then was offered a buffet with cool soft drinks.

The workshop was also broadcast with LIVE STREAMING through the page of the Chamber of Aetoloakarnania on Facebook.
